Snapper Challenge
Snapper Media provides the top print agencies of the world access to over 11 million photo images and this must allow for fast data retrieval with an integrated billing system. The 1000 plus users must have this system up and running on a 24x7 basis. Unfortunately the existing database technologies were not able to handle the speed with which data was entered into the system, the speed with which data needs to be retrieved as well as working within the myriad of billing systems required. Snapper Media wanted a solution that would meet its current data needs as well as the potential of offering limitless growth and seizing emerging market technologies.

Snapper Media has a long history of working on the Apple Platform. This continued with the Apple Mac OS X Server 10.6 platform and has included working with the Apple XServe RAID technologies and Promise VTrak storage to hold the existing 20TB of data as well as providing growth for future storage capacity. For Internet speed and connection issues Tecnosys has provided Fibre DDFE connections to the site with off-site backup to our secure data centre. To meet the end user requirements for both data retrieval, data upload, speed and end user billing Tecnosys worked with Snapper Media to provide a database solution to meet these heavy requirements.
